  You can now build a successful strategy for connecting your .NET application to the InterSystems IRIS database. In some situations, XEP might be a better choice than ADO.NET, Entity Framework, or the Native SDK—such as when using objects or processing large amounts of simple data quickly. In other cases, ADO.NET will be preferable—such as when pulling reports for a large program. Each API can connect your .NET application to the InterSystems IRIS database with varying levels of efficiency. InterSystems IRIS provides a flexible database that lets you manipulate the data using the native, relational, or object-oriented paradigms, with the same physical connection and transactional context.
