Connecting InterSystems IRIS with Tableau via ODBC
Learn where to find and how to use the InterSystems ODBC driver to connect InterSystems IRISĀ® data platform with Tableau. See how to make this connection in three simple steps called the IDC process: Investigate, Download, and Configure.
Step 1: Investigate
The following list shows information in the About menu of the Management Portal that you need to know before you can connect InterSystems IRIS with Tableau:
- InterSystems IRIS version number
- IP/DNS address
- Namespace
- Superserver port
- Username and password
Other things you need to know:
- Operating System
- Architecture (x86 or x64)
Step 2: Download
Find the ODBC driver by following these steps:
- Go to the WRC Distribution Center.
- Click Components.
- Filter for your InterSystems IRIS version and Windows architecture.
- Download the ODBC driver.
Step 3: Configure
To connect, follow the steps below:
- Install the ODBC driver using the InterSystems ODBC Data Source Wizard.
- Use the Windows search icon to search for ODBC and select from the results 32 or 64 bit, depending on your Windows architecture.
- In the ODBC Data Source Setup dialog box, select the System DSN tab.
- Click Add > InterSystems IRIS ODBC35 > Finish.
- Complete the rest of the form and click Test Connection to verify the connection works.
- Click OK to save the connection.
- Open Tableau and select Data > New Data Source.
- Select Other Databases (ODBC) and select the name of your connection in the DNS drop-down list.
- Select Connect, then Sign in.
Close this window to return to the main page.
